How to pick a bot

Brand new to chess? Start with Pip, who leaves pieces hanging. Once you can beat Pip, tryRosa the Gambiteer for a wild attack, then Professor Hoot for solid play by the book. Blitz Betty hunts for quick tactics,The Iron Rook grinds out endgames, and Nova is our strongest bot.

After a bot game with at least six graded moves, the result card gives a rough level for how you played and names the bot closest to it, which helps you choose your next opponent. All ratings here are our own rough estimates.Compare all six bots.
